The meaning of this song overall is stemmed from the origin of the story that formed the lyrics. It was based off a break up including the songwriter Max Martin who was involved in a break up resulting in the lyrics of "hit me baby one more time". They believe that "hit" meant "call" in American culture in reference of wanting to be called one more time in order to reform the relationship. The mise en scene of the music video is inside a school and a natural environment which could appeal to many of the targetted audience who are the protagonists age. As the music video progresses and music itself cresendos, the setting changes into more drastic areas from the school hallways to the sports hall which could correlate to the more important meaning and messages of the song. This can be something similar to my music video as the correlation between mise en scene and cresendos of music builds up the song to a penultimate climax.
the narrative of the music video shows a clear progression of a teenagers typically having a boring day within a class room and develops through the transitions of them running from room to room including frequent outfit changes. this portrays the teenagers stereoypically as troublesome and become alot less innocent to what they once were. this could be in correlation to the targetted audience as they try and relate a narrative across to them and one that is meaningful so they are able to admire the artist by sharing similar values as well as ideologies. following on inrelation to my music video, i will consider the use of outfit changes as they bring quick ideas that encode simple messages to the audience for them to decode in a short period of time.
