For preparation for my music video editing and production, i did a test run of editing music with video in order to match the lip syncing which will prove to be a key part of my performance side to my music video. the song that is playing is happy by Pharrell Williams and is chosen as the song is very anthemic and meets the brief that i will be working with for when i do my music video. throughout the video there is a range of camera shots alternating throughout the song in different settings, angles and depending on the lyrics. the two main shots will have been shown is an indoor setting and an outdoor setting which will be swapping shots for every 8 beats to keep the whole scene in sync with the song as well as making it predictable for the audience. lyrics such as "because i'm happy" and "yeah" are completely different shots that have been edited over the top of the long shots, to which they cut back after each lyric. my artist is also giving many hand gestures as well as movement that are in sync with the beat. this is shown in the clapping which is shown in the chorus as every clap is on beat as well as the lip syncing. whilst doing this, there is lots of direct address given throughout which helps with the main focus of a music video to sell the artist and promote them. as this piece was a draft, it was filmed through a phone without a tripod, for the real video, it will ideally be shot on a camera and tripod to stop the camera shake and make the video seem more authentic. this will be specifically more for narrative but also for the performance aspect as well since the camera will be more frequently around my artist. furthermore, the other flaw within the music video is at times, my artist was not looking at the camera for certain periods of times since he didn't know lyrics which will be changed within my music videos. at times which my artist doesn't look or address the camera in my video will be for other reasons such as engaging with the audience as well as the band. ill also film my main piece on a landscape format as I realized the camera angle was rotated sideways which will be taken into account for the next recording. the editing within the video did seem to work overall as there were no times where the sync was out of place.
