Stormzy's "big for your boots" is a good example when considering a song to be anthemic as it communicates a hedionist ideology to a certain audience as portrayed throughout the music video. the narrative we have set is an urban area located in london with Stormzy preaching and being the voice for all of the people living in that society. the song is almost like a prayer for these civilians and communicates togetherness making this song anthemic as it is there identity. throughout the music video there are many scene changes with further reinforces the overall narrative with a mise-en-scene of a chicken shop, pub and streets of london. these all encode urban meanings showing what type of society s being adressed throughout the song and who is preaching along with the artists. it also appeals to a wide range demographic of people as many people are living in these circumstances and are experiencing this form of life. they may see this artists as someone to follow and look up to as they seem to know to be anthemic in their community.
furthermore, the fact that Stormzy is interacting with our background characters and social groups further reinforces this anthemic feel as it shows him connecting with the people and the overall idea of communities coming together. everyone wants to be apart of the event or song as it is relatable to them as well as the people round them making them feel a sense of togetherness. ideas which i would incorperate into my music video would include the outfit changes and the mise en scene encoding certain stereotypes as well as giving overall feel of the music video itself.
